Anthropic launched Claude Academy on August 20, 2026, a free AI learning hub at academy.claude.com that teaches business users the same AI-fluency curriculum Anthropic uses to onboard its own employees. Claude Academy tracks course completion, awards badges, and recommends a learner’s next course based on interests and finished coursework. Anthropic published the launch alongside a blog post setting out its teaching approach, and third-party trackers counted 22 structured courses on the platform as of August 21, 2026.

What Claude Academy Includes

Claude Academy holds three material types — courses, step-by-step tutorials, and use-case collections sorted by department — all free to access with no purchase requirement. Anthropic states the platform lets learners “get recommended courses based on areas of interest and completed learning” and “track course completion & badges.” Coverage from ExplainX puts the catalogue at 22 courses spanning AI fluency, Claude.ai, Claude Cowork, Claude Code, Agent Skills, the Model Context Protocol, and the Claude API, with completion badges learners can post to LinkedIn.

Anthropic also shipped a Claude Academy Skill on GitHub that lets Claude itself recommend courses and learning paths based on how a person works. Learners reach the hub at academy.claude.com or through the “Learn more” tab in the Claude profile menu.

Why Anthropic Built Claude Academy on Its Own Onboarding

Claude Academy mirrors Anthropic’s internal employee training, which starts on an employee’s first day. Anthropic teaches every new hire its 4D AI Fluency Framework, practices for managing what agents know, and how quickly model capability moves; the company has not published the four component names outside the framework’s own Academy collection. After onboarding, Anthropic runs what it calls “ever-boarding” — always-on programs covering AI’s capabilities and limitations and evidence-based practices for human-agent teams.

The curriculum deliberately teaches mindsets over features. “Given how fast AI is changing, mastering features alone won’t lead to lasting AI fluency,” Anthropic wrote, citing two of its own teaching maxims: “today’s AI is the worst AI you’ll ever use” and “verify in proportion to the stakes.” Anthropic also teaches learners to decide which tasks stay with the human and to disclose AI use to colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.

What Claude Academy Changes for Business Buyers

Claude Academy removes the training cost from an AI rollout, which is the line item most small and mid-sized businesses cannot staff. Enterprise deployments fund dedicated customer-success teams and internal enablement; a 40-person company evaluating the 15 Best AI Tools for Business in 2026 has to weigh licence cost against the weeks of unbilled time someone spends teaching everyone else to use the tool. A free, badge-bearing curriculum from the vendor moves that cost to zero.

The launch also arrived in a dense release week: Anthropic moved computer use, the Skills API, and the Files API to general availability days either side of the Academy launch, per CryptoBriefing. Anthropic has not published learner counts, sign-up figures, or per-course completion times.

Our take: Vendor-run training is a moat disguised as a public good. Every badge issued is a worker who has learned automation the Claude way, and those workers sit in the room when procurement picks a platform 18 months later — the same play Cognizant ran at 30,000-employee scale. Buyers should use it anyway: the curriculum is explicitly product-agnostic in parts, and the delegation and verification habits it teaches transfer to any assistant. Judge it by whether your team ships work differently in 90 days, not by badge count.
