Salesforce and Anthropic announced Claudeforce on August 26, 2026, a partnership that makes Anthropic’s Claude the default reasoning model across Agentforce, Slack, and Salesforce developer tools, and ships a Salesforce plugin inside Claude with 37 prebuilt sales skills. Two days later, Salesforce reported Q2 FY2027 results showing Agentforce annual recurring revenue of $1.5 billion, up 240% year over year, and the stock rose 22.6% to $252.05 on August 28.

The 37 prebuilt skills cover sales workflows such as meeting prep, deal health review, and pipeline review. Claudeforce is in limited pilot now, with open beta expected in September 2026. Salesforce has not disclosed pricing.

What Claudeforce Actually Does

Claudeforce connects Claude’s reasoning to live Salesforce data through what Salesforce calls an enterprise harness — the layer that governs which records, workflows, and actions an AI model can reach. A seller asks Claude a question such as “what is the health of my Q3 pipeline?”, and Claude reads current CRM records, surfaces at-risk deals, and executes governed actions inside Salesforce.

“Claudeforce brings Claude’s intelligence and reasoning together with Salesforce’s trusted enterprise harness to make its data, workflows, business logic, actions, and governance securely accessible.” — Salesforce press release, August 26, 2026

The arrangement is reciprocal. Anthropic standardizes on Salesforce CRM and Slack for its own operations, and Salesforce adopts Claude as the preferred AI assistant for its developers. Both companies are now each other’s customers.

The Q2 Numbers That Back the Bet

Salesforce reported Q2 FY2027 revenue of $11.345 billion, up 10.83% year over year, and adjusted earnings per share of $5.90 against a $3.27 estimate — an 80.4% beat. Agentforce ARR reached $1.5 billion, and Agentforce combined with Data 360 exceeded $3.9 billion in ARR. Customers consumed 3.2 billion Agentic Work Units in Q2 alone, up 97% quarter over quarter, and the Slack bot reached 1 million active users, up 150% quarter over quarter.

Current remaining performance obligation grew 14% year over year to $33.5 billion. Salesforce raised FY27 guidance by $300 million to a range of $46.1 billion to $46.4 billion, attributing the raise to organic strength in Agentforce, Data 360, and Slack rather than cost reductions.

What This Means for CRM Buyers in 2026

AI model choice is now a CRM selection criterion. Until Claudeforce, enterprise software vendors marketed model-agnostic AI layers that let buyers swap between providers. Salesforce has named a default. Yahoo Finance framed the deal under the headline “Salesforce’s Claudeforce Deal With Anthropic Signals the End of Model-Agnostic Enterprise AI.”

Buyers comparing platforms should now add one question to the evaluation: which model reasons over your customer data, and who governs what it can do. Our comparison of the 13 best CRM software platforms for every business size breaks down how the major vendors handle AI reasoning, data governance, and per-action pricing across Salesforce, HubSpot, and Microsoft Dynamics.

Competitive timing sharpens the point. HubSpot’s AI-first redesign becomes mandatory on August 31, 2026, and Microsoft is embedding Copilot deeper into Dynamics. Claudeforce is the most specific answer any major vendor has given to the question of which AI runs the CRM.

Limits Salesforce Has Not Addressed

Claudeforce is not generally available. The pilot is limited, open beta is scheduled for September 2026, and Salesforce has published no pricing. Claudeforce augments existing Salesforce AI features rather than replacing them, and neither company has stated how the 37 sales skills will be extended or customized by individual accounts.

For Context

Salesforce has shipped Agentforce capabilities on a roughly quarterly cadence through 2026. Agentforce Help Agent reached general availability with per-resolution pricing, establishing the consumption model that Agentic Work Units now measure. Agentforce Commerce extended Salesforce storefronts into ChatGPT, and Salesforce’s own research documenting that enterprise AI agent usage tripled in a year supplied the demand evidence that the Q2 Agentic Work Unit figure now confirms in revenue.
