Salesforce and NVIDIA launched Koa at Dreamforce 2026 — the first CRM reasoning model purpose-built for enterprise sales automation, post-trained on NVIDIA Nemotron 3 Super using a synthetic dataset drawn from 27 years of Salesforce CRM deployments. Koa matches or exceeds leading general-purpose models on CRM tasks while producing three times fewer errors, according to Salesforce’s internal benchmark backed by a peer-reviewed arXiv paper. The announcement was made on September 15, 2026, at Moscone Center, San Francisco.
What Is Salesforce Koa?
Koa is a CRM-specific reasoning model that Salesforce built by post-training NVIDIA’s open Nemotron 3 Super model on a proprietary synthetic dataset covering more than 14 industries, including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and travel. No customer data was used in training — every scenario in the dataset is synthetic, generated to simulate real CRM tasks such as updating opportunities, routing service cases, scheduling follow-ups, and generating leads. Salesforce controls the model weights and runs inference inside its own infrastructure, so customer data never crosses to an external AI provider.
Marc Benioff, Chair and CEO of Salesforce, explained the model’s strategic rationale: “The most valuable thing Salesforce has built isn’t our platform — it’s the accumulated knowledge of how enterprise business actually works. With Koa, the knowledge is put inside the model itself. We trained a reasoning engine that understands the structure of a deal, the lifecycle of a service case, and the workflows that vary across industries. That’s a different kind of intelligence, and it runs entirely inside your trust boundary.”
What the “3× Fewer Errors” Benchmark Means
Salesforce measured Koa on its internal CRM benchmark — a suite of real-world CRM tasks including deal progression, case routing, and lead enrichment — and found that Koa matches or exceeds leading general-purpose models while producing three times fewer errors. The methodology is published in the peer-reviewed arXiv paper arXiv:2609.15066. Readers evaluating this claim should note that the benchmark is Salesforce’s own; no neutral third party administered it.
Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, described the model’s foundation: “Every company needs useful AI, tailored to its knowledge, expertise, and work. NVIDIA Nemotron open models give Salesforce the foundation to turn decades of enterprise expertise into specialized AI with Koa, creating a CRM model that can reason and securely take action.”
Training used Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) and reinforcement learning via GRPO, implemented with NVIDIA NeMo RL, NeMo Gym, and NeMo AutoModel. General availability is expected in US regions in winter 2026; Koa is currently in pilot with select customers.
Which Companies Are Piloting Koa?
Salesforce confirmed six pilot customers for Koa: 1-800Accountant, Baxter Credit Union, Engine, Formula 1, UChicago Medicine, and Xero. Ryan Teeples, Chief Strategy Officer at 1-800Accountant, described the use case: “Accounting requires navigating tax rules, financial data, documents, and the unique circumstances of every customer. Koa gives our agents the reasoning to work through that complexity step by step and use the right tools along the way.”
Salesforce also confirmed that Koa powers Missionforce Operations, a deployment pathway for government and air-gapped environments, using NVIDIA models certified for classified networks.
What AIforce Adds to Koa
AIforce is a new interface layer Salesforce announced alongside Koa at Dreamforce 2026. AIforce lets external AI environments — including Slack bots, third-party agents, and custom LLM applications — access Salesforce CRM data and business logic without requiring users to stay inside the Salesforce interface. Koa functions as the reasoning model, Agentforce as the autonomous action layer, and AIforce as the connectivity layer linking Salesforce data to outside AI environments.
What Koa Means for CRM Buyers
Koa changes the competitive calculus for businesses evaluating the best AI CRM platforms. Competitors including HubSpot, Pipedrive, and Zoho currently route CRM tasks through OpenAI or Anthropic APIs — general-purpose models not post-trained on CRM-specific reasoning tasks. Salesforce now controls a proprietary domain model hosted inside its own trust boundary, which means switching away from Salesforce also means moving to a platform without a dedicated CRM reasoning model.
For buyers already evaluating Salesforce alternatives, Koa’s CRM-specific benchmark improvements represent a structural differentiation that generic LLM integrations cannot replicate without a similar domain-training program. The broader landscape of best CRM software for business still includes strong alternatives for teams that do not require Salesforce’s enterprise depth; the benchmark improvements are specific to the CRM task categories Salesforce trained Koa on.
Our Take: Salesforce just became the only CRM vendor that owns its reasoning model — making every competitor that relies on OpenAI or Anthropic APIs look structurally weaker on AI CRM tasks. The key question for buyers: does Koa’s domain-specific accuracy improvement justify the Salesforce commitment, or does a capable alternative with a general-purpose LLM still solve the problem at a lower total cost?
For Context
Koa was the headline product announcement at Dreamforce 2026 (September 15–17, Moscone Center, San Francisco). Additional announcements at the same keynote included expanded partnerships with Google Cloud (Agentforce + Gemini Enterprise via MCP), AWS (Amazon Quick, Bedrock model choice, Agentforce Voice), and Siemens, plus a $27 million education commitment from Salesforce. Koa and AIforce are the most technically distinct announcements for CRM buyers evaluating Salesforce’s AI roadmap.
