Bloomreach launched “Ask Me Anything” on August 5, 2026, a multi-agent capability that converts the ecommerce search bar into a single conversational entry point for shoppers. The feature runs on Loomi, Bloomreach’s agentic personalization platform, and is generally available to the 1,400+ global brands on the Bloomreach platform, including American Eagle, Sonepar, and Pandora. Loomi routes each query to one of three destinations: keyword queries go to traditional search and merchandising, shopping questions go to generative AI, and order or return questions go to the brand’s existing third-party customer service agent. Bloomreach announced the feature through BusinessWire under the title “Transforming the Search Bar Into a Single Entry Point for Shoppers.”

    How the Three-Mode Routing Works

Loomi reads shopper intent and dispatches the query to the matching experience in real time, so one input field serves three different systems. “The Loomi conversational agent serves as the orchestration layer, recognizing shopper intent and routing each request to the right experience in real time,” Bloomreach said in materials reported by Martechvibe.

The three routes handle distinct shopper jobs:

    • Keyword search stays unchanged — a shopper who types “running shoes” gets the retailer’s existing search relevance and merchandising rules, with no new interface to learn.
    • Conversational questions reach generative AI — a shopper who asks for a gift for a 10-year-old gets personalized recommendations, deals discovery, image-based similar-style search, and product comparisons.
    • Service questions reach the existing CS agent — order tracking, returns, and omnichannel fulfillment queries hand off to the third-party support agent the retailer already runs.

Why the Handoff to a Third-Party Agent Matters

The customer-service handoff is the part competitors have not shipped. Coveo, Constructor, and Algolia sell AI-powered ecommerce search, and Shopify ships its own Sidekick assistant, but routing a query out of the search experience and into a separate support agent inside the same interaction is new ground. Retailers keep their existing support stack instead of replacing it, which removes the usual migration cost from an AI search upgrade.

The augment-don’t-replace design also lowers adoption friction on both sides of the transaction. Retailers change little technically, and shoppers see the same search box they already use. That evaluation pattern — bolt-on AI that preserves the existing platform — is the one buyers apply when they compare the best ecommerce platform options, where integration depth decides more shortlists than feature counts do.

What Bloomreach Is Assembling Around Loomi

Bloomreach announced general availability of Loomi Marketing Agent the same week as Ask Me Anything, a separate product with a separate release. Two GA announcements in one week place Loomi across search, merchandising, marketing, and customer service — four touchpoints that most retailers currently buy from four vendors.

Bloomreach sits between the storefront platform and the shopper rather than replacing either. Its customers are mid-market and enterprise retailers who use Bloomreach for search relevance tuning, product recommendations, and email and SMS marketing. Bloomreach has branded its AI as Loomi since 2022.

Bloomreach disclosed no pricing for Ask Me Anything and published no conversion or revenue figures for the feature.

Our take: The search bar is not the story. The story is Bloomreach quietly welding Loomi into a single agentic layer across search, merchandising, marketing, and service in one week. Unified orchestration across every touchpoint is where ecommerce AI is heading, and whoever owns that layer owns the customer journey.
